Question by Fabrizio:

We have number 1 and 2 positions in the markets where we operate, and will continue to best meet customer needs with a focus on great local brands that offer market-specific products and services. We are well prepared and have been offering fresh food for many decades. We are confident we will grow with eCommerce in the coming years, using AI technology and robotics to fulfill last mile solutions.
Question by Rob:
Everybody is talking about Amazon entering the food grocery delivery business and wiping out the traditional stores like Ahold Delhaize. How well prepared are you? How do you deal with this threat?
I think we are very well prepared. Amazon is a fantastic company of course, and a very large player that you should never underestimate. However, food and fresh foods is a game that they have not mastered themselves, and have bought Whole Foods for. We look at our own achievements, are a really good player in food and fresh foods, and know the sector very well. How do you purchase from suppliers? Who are your customers? A lot of data.
We think that by combining this with our online product, with which we have a rich history in the Netherlands, Belgium and the USA, we are better positioned in the food market. And do not forget, Amazon is already in Europe, in the UK, France and Germany, and we already run into them there. This means we have to go in our own direction, and we are very convinced of our own capabilities, and the numbers show that our customers appreciate our services.
